Leschi Market has been a fixture in Seattle's Leschi neighborhood since 1948, when Hank and Shirley Edelson relocated their family grocery to the shores of Lake Washington. Still family-owned, the store has built a loyal following over the decades, and for good reason. Leschi Market specializes in meats, wine, and beer, and the quality across all three is hard to beat. The full-service butcher counter carries hormone- and antibiotic-free meats across beef, pork, lamb, and poultry, with a dedicated case packed with Leschi's house-made sausage. Fresh produce rounds out the essentials, with a solid selection of organic and conventional fruits and vegetables, including salad kits, fresh greens, and herbs.

The wine department alone is worth the visit. The wall of bottles stretches floor to ceiling and runs the full length of the aisle, with selections from around the world, including everyday wine starting under $5 to rare cellar finds. The staff knows the inventory well and is happy to help you narrow it down. Mix and match any six bottles for a 10% discount, which makes it easy to stock up for the week.

If you're cooking in, the meat counter makes it easy to put together something special. House-made no-nitrite sausages are made on-site in more than a dozen varieties, and roasted organic chicken is available daily. Hot prime rib is ready to go on Friday evenings and Saturdays — a nice treat if your timing lines up. For a quick meal, the deli turns out daily sandwiches, freshly made pasta and potato salads, and grab-and-go fruit and green salads from the produce case.
