Gene's Sausage Shop & Delicatessen

Specialty Market

Gene's Sausage Shop & Delicatessen is a Chicago institution with deep roots and a life-size cow out front to prove it. Founded in 1972 by immigrant brothers John and Gene Luszcz, the shop started as a neighborhood deli on West Roscoe Street, drawing on family sausage-making recipes and smoking techniques passed down from their small town in Poland. More than 50 years later, Gene's has grown into a sprawling 20,000-square-foot European market in Lincoln Square.

Gene's carries over 40 varieties of homemade, natural wood-smoked sausages made fresh on-premise daily by traditional sausage-makers from Europe. Beyond the sausage counter, the shop is stocked with fresh meats cut straight from the cooler, a full delicatessen, fresh produce, dairy, imported European gourmet foods, a bakery, and a vast selection of imported beer, wine, and liquor.
